The objective of the entire exhaust system, as with the manifolds, is to eliminate the residual gases burned in the combustion chamber, since this will have an impact on the performance of the engine. It is simply a matter of maximizing the speed and efficiency of gas removal.

The muffler system plays an important role in this task, while at the same time reducing the noise of the waves caused by the gases when they leave the combustion chamber.
